In order to take care of children between 6 weeks and 8 years, several Little Tots learning centers have started in many cities. Most of them are certified centers with a state license. The centers are mainly day care units and the tiny tots are looked after by a team of professional staff.
Tiny tots come to the learning centers on all 5 working days of the week, and all of them are provided with meals. Very small children are looked after by babysitters, but for older children there are plenty of learning activities like arts, crafts and various games. This nurtures group activity which is important for them.
It is important to have qualified staff for tiny tots, because they are a mixed age-group and each group has to be dealt with differently. The 12-year olds go to school and come to the center because they need help for their school assignments. A home environment is provided by some learning centers, food and snacks is prepared at the center for the children too.
Transportation is also provided by some tiny tots learning centers.
Summer programs which last the whole day are also a part of their curriculum planning.
Group learning is of utmost importance because it is one of the most important features for the development of a child.
Other subjects which are dealt with are computers, fine arts and field trips for children between 6 and 10.
Community activities are the essence of the learning imparted to tiny tots.
They learn in a pleasant environment and it prepares them in a way for their later learning in school.
The children learn how to interact in groups and survive in a healthy manner.
The training of the teachers who handle tiny tots is important, but it is not only their qualification but also their personality that helps in building a rapport with the tiny tots. The minimum qualification of being trained in Early Childhood Education is a must, but the teachers should deal with the kids with plenty of patience and love.
The kids learn the right values in life from their teachers, for example helping each other, caring for each other and loving each other in a community.
The teacher is the best person to recognize the talent and interest in a child.
Because each tiny tot is an individual, he learns at his own pace, but the guidance must come from a trained teacher so that children can work later in groups.
A happy environment should be created at the learning center to make learning interesting for tiny tots.
Tiny tots should learn, but they should also play.
Of course it is possible for them to learn through play, but fun and enjoyment should be the keyword for a learning experience. Tiny tots should feel secure in the environment, only then can they learn well. Most centers provide ample equipment and it is possible for the kids to develop a liking or interest for a particular thing, be it nature, computers or painting.
It may just be the beginning of a show of talent, but it may also be too early to make decisions about the child's future life. Nevertheless, the observations made by the teacher can help parents to guide their children later in life.
